DOI: https://doi.org/10.56293/IJASR.2022.5449

ABSTRACT: As a result of the effect of various factors on aquatic ecosystems, polluting agents such as many heavy metals are mixed, and as a result, the living creatures in the aquatic ecosystem are adversely affected because of contamination with these chemical agents. In recent years, it is important to monitor living organisms and their metabolic processes to determine the cleanliness of water. Therefore, in our study, malondialdehyde (MDA), glutathione (GSH), and Total Antioxidant Status (TAS) which is an oxidative stress marker in the gills, liver, and lungs of Cyprinus Carpio L., which is widely found in the Obruk Dam Lake in Oğuzlar district of Çorum province? A total of 90 Cyprinus carpio specimens were collected from different parts of the Obruk Dam Lake. Relevant tissues of the samples were taken and homogenized. Methods suitable for spectrophotometric measurement were used to determine MDA, GSH and TAS levels. According to the results, it was determined that antioxidant biomarkers were higher in the liver and gills. According to the data obtained from our previous studies, it is reported that the water of the Obruk Dam Lake complies with the standards in terms of heavy metals. These data showed that the physiological events that occur in the relevant tissues to provide oxidative balance contribute to the stabilization of the aquatic ecosystem.

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56293/IJASR.2022.5454

ABSTRACT: The concept of biological studies is divided into four levels of representation, namely macroscopic, microscopic, molecular, and symbolic levels. The interconnection of these four levels makes a major contribution to the development of students' mental models in building the meaning and conceptual understanding of biological materials. Mental models are ideas in the minds of students that are used to develop, explain, and predict a phenomenon. The formation of mental models is influenced by the experiences they have, their confidence or selfefficacy, and the problems they face. Multiple representations are believed to influence the formation of mental models and students' self-efficacy. For this reason, an in-depth study of the role of multiple representations in building mental models and students' self-efficacy is needed. This research is qualitative research with descriptive analysis techniques and a literature review (library research). The analysis is carried out by reviewing articles that are relevant to the study being discussed. In the search for articles, four keywords were used, namely: multiple representation learning, biology learning, mental models, and self-efficacy. The articles used in this study were 25 international articles obtained from Google Scholar and ERIC. From the results of the study, it was found that learning multiple representations is very effective in building mental models and self-efficacy in biology students. From the results of this study, it is recommended for lecturers and teachers to use multiple representations learning in the learning process to build mental models and self-efficacy in students.

8. WOMEN DEPICTION AND TRADITIONAL GENDER ROLES IN BIBLICAL AND SELECT CHRISTIAN COMMUNITIES IN JOS

Priscilla Queen KPAREVZUA 1 and Henry Demenongo ABAYA 2

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56293/IJASR.2022.5456

ABSTRACT: Gender roles are defined based on different expectations that people have of others based on their sex, societalvalues and beliefs about gender, which give cues about what sort of behaviour is appropriate for what sex. Extant literature show stereotypical gender roles in politics and diverse professional circles that mostly indicate women as subservient and dependent on men and men as chauvinists. What remains uncertain is the level with which Christian communities understand and interpret biblical gender roles and appropriate them. This study investigates select Christian sects in Jos to determine the depiction and assigning of gender roles within their communities and ascertain how societal and biblical values and beliefs determine how the female gender is particularly perceived and treated in the communities. A quasi-experimental and survey approach is adopted using interviews, questionnaires and observations amongst the clergy and laity of diverse Christian sects to elicit information on gender roles in Christian communities and the data subjected to critical discourse analysis from the Discourse Historical Approach of Ruth Wodak. The study offers profound insight into how women roles are constructed and deconstructed in religious hierarchy on the basis of sameness and the construction of differences and exclusion.

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56293/IJASR.2022.5457

ABSTRACT: Kruger National Park (KNP) is a major destination for domestic and international visitors and plays a significant role in tourism and nature conservation. However, KNP is increasingly facing stiff competition from local and regional players. Therefore, KNP needs to deliver quality services to ensure visitors' satisfaction and remain competitive by comprehending factors influencing visitors' satisfaction. If KNP is to develop effective strategies to improve visitors' satisfaction, prioritising key success factors (KSFs) that determine customer satisfaction is a prerequisite. This study, therefore, aims to identify the KSFs that KNP needs to prioritise in managing customer satisfaction. In order to achieve this, data were collected from 227 KNP visitors using a questionnaire and analysed using logistic regression. Logistic regression analysis was used to estimate the KSFs in managing customer satisfaction with the quality of service delivered at KNP. This study identified eight KSFs that determine the visitor's satisfaction with the services; safety, wildlife experience, availability of information, booking experience, guiding experience, accommodation, facilities, and direction and signage.

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56293/IJASR.2022.5459

ABSTRACT: There is a close interaction between any natural environment and especially human beings and other living things. This interaction; It controls landforms, climate, soil and vegetation. Climate is the most important external force that shapes the earth. For these reasons, human beings; It maintains its life in the natural environment by adapting to the landforms and climate. The behavior of human beings to adapt to nature has emerged as land use. In this study; Landforms, climate, soil and vegetation that are effective on land use in Kesis Stream Basin were examined. In the study, geographic information systems (GIS) were chosen as the method, and the elevation model, other data obtained from the institutions constitute the study materials. These data were processed through GIS and explained visually and numerically.Accordingly, it has been determined that the rugged landforms of the basin do not allow settlement and agricultural activities since they correspond to approximately 80% of the area (Table 3). In the basin, brownish forest soils and red Mediterranean soils developed, in which Mediterranean climate characteristics are observed. On these soil surfaces; conifer, mixed and broad-leaved plant species showed a wide distribution. While alluvial and colluvial soils developed on landforms such as polje, uvala, and sinks in the basin, it was determined that these surfaces were used as settlement and agricultural areas. As a result, it was determined that more than 70% of the area (Table 6) limited settlement and agriculture in the Kesis Stream basin, as a natural result of the mutual interaction of landforms, climate, soil and plant characteristics. Apart from these, it has been determined that about 17% of them, such as the accumulation fan, polje, uvala, doline, low plateau, are engaged in settlement and agriculture. Here; the rules of natural factors should be prioritized and land use plans should be made to adapt to this.

13. Influencing factors of maximum retraction of maxillary central incisor and its clinical significance in orthodontic treatment

Chen Yunxin 1, Kong weidong 2

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56293/IJASR.2022.5461

ABSTRACT: The position of the maxillary central incisor (MCI) directly affects the appearance of the patient's profile. For patients with bimaxillary protrusion or maxillary protrusion, orthodontic treatment often adopts a large number of retractions of the maxillary anterior teeth to improve the profile. However, the retraction of MCI is limited, and the maximum retraction depends on the distance between the root of MCI and the incisor canal(IC). This distance is not a constant value and is affected by many factors. This article reviews the influencing factors of the maximum retraction of MCI and its clinical significance in orthodontic treatment.

ABSTRACT: This study aims to determine the journalist coverage strategy of Palu City during the Covid-19 by using journalist and journalistic theory, news theory, and the concept of coverage guidelines issued by press organizations. This research method is descriptive and qualitative with an action research approach. The data collection techniques were observation and interviews with four journalists from Palu City. The informants selected through the purposive sampling technique are informants who had been exposed to Coronavirus, have coverage of Covid-19, and have a minimum service period of five years. The study results show that the coverage strategy is divided into three stages. In the first stage, there are two strategies: online research and editorial meetings. In the second stage, the strategies are the technology utilization in communication applications form, the close relationship between journalists and fellow journalists and resources, and utilizing citizen journalism. In the last stage, the strategy generally applies technology because there are no significant obstacles. Of these three stages, there are five coverage strategies, and the most dominant strategy applied during the Covid-19 pandemic is the use of WhatsApp and Zoom Meeting. Furthermore, straight news dominates the Covid-19 news writing model because the rules limit the interview duration.

1 Usman, F., 2 Azuaga, I. C., 3 Tahir R., 4 Barnabas D.

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56293/IJASR.2022.5470

ABSTRACT: Natural products are also known as secondary metabolites, compounds that are naturally produced by biological organisms. These natural products have a broad range of functions which include agents that solubilize and transport nutrients, like siderophores which transport iron Fe3+ across membranes in bacteria and fungi; they are often structurally complex molecules that possess a well-defined spatial orientation. These compounds have evolved to interact efficiently with their biological targets, as their producers evolved alongside their target organisms. This work aimed at reviewing modern trends in isolation and structural elucidation of Alkaloids and Terpenes. Alkaloids are the main secondary metabolites which have medical properties. It can be used to avoid the several degenerative sicknesses by scavenging free radical or binding with catalyst, the oxidative reaction. Terpenes or terpenoids are the major diverse group occurring in plants naturally, depending on isoprene unit's number. Humans used several of terpenoid compounds to produce important compounds such as vitamin A from βcarotene. Generally, terpenes in foods contain a main effect on our eating practice. Terpenoid as pigments, like bixin, astaxanthin, and lycopene are utilized in the food manufacturing industry. The modern techniques as well as the advanced instruments that employed in the discovery programme of bioactive natural products facilitated the task of the natural product chemists and permitted them to detect, target, isolate and elucidate the structure of the pharmacologically active natural product in significantly short times compared with that done in the not too distant past. Conclusively, the review identified the various modern methods that are in use in the isolation, purification and structure elucidation of alkaloids and terpenoids. these include NMR,MS and hyphenated HPLC system.

ABSTRACT: COVID -19 closure of schools in Eswatini have dismantled or rippled the seven dimensions of quality education that are enshrined in Inqaba Initiative thus, affecting parents and children greatly. Through, UNICEF, Eswatini, Inqaba Initiative promotes, lobby for and mobilise schools’ provision of care, support and protection of children from diverse backgrounds and situations. The paper outlines how COVID-19 at-home learning has turned the home into the centre of care, support and protection for the Liswati child thus, overburdening parents or guardians. It is a desk review of the new parenting style demanded by the COVID -19 at - home learning. It builds up on conclusions from literature reviewed or meta-analyses data on COVID-19. The review adopted Bronfenbrenner (1970) Ecological Systems Theory and Model as lenses through which ideas discussed in this study were formed. The paper suggests that to help Emaswati children survive or cope with COVID-19 at-home learning, parents should adopt transitional parenting styles; train children self-management skills, improvisation techniques and digital group growth. It suggests to parents and guardians, ways of giving support to learners during the Covid-19 teaching and learning era, thus, adds new knowledge to education practice.

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56293/IJASR.2022.5474

ABSTRACT: An education continuum plan was unveiled by the Department of Education (2020) as soon as schools resumed their operations and acknowledged the key contribution that parents can make to the academic achievement of their children. Hence, this paper sought to explore parental participation in the completion of science academic tasks using the Husserlian Transcendental phenomenology approach. The result revealed six (6) emerging themes of the parents' lived experience; (1) parents’ educational background and ability limit their involvement in Science learning tasks; (2) social media sites and online games hamper science learning tasks productivity; (3) navigating multifaceted challenges in the new-normal education; (4) technology and the internet as a game-changer in the completion of Science learning tasks; (5) moral and emotional support as a way to encourage; and (6) discipline and ensuring a healthy working environment at home. Based on the findings, the school must provide parents with intervention strategies that meet their demands, including household instructional strategies and behavior management approaches for circumstances when children are learning at home.

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56293/IJASR.2022.5476

ABSTRACT: An assessment of the groundwater potential of the basement complex within the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, south-west Nigeria, was conducted. Twenty-five points were systematically chosen within the North campus of the Federal Polytechnic and its environs, and assessed for aquifer's groundwater potentials, groundwater development, and reasons for the failure of some abandoned wells within the study area. The study was conducted using some geological investigations and electrical resistivity methods such as horizontal profiling and vertical electrical sounding using the Wenner array and Schlumberger configuration. Indications from the result show that the electrical resistivity values of the study area range from 40 to 85Ωm, 90 to 120 and 120 to 1,230Ωm. Further analysis of the result using specific interpretative models classified the study area into three potential groundwater zones, namely high groundwater potential terrain, low to medium groundwater potential terrain and poor to lean potential groundwater terrain. The investigation also revealed that the failure of the boreholes situated within the sports complex beside the rector's office and the one at the staff club were the result of sinking the boreholes in a poor to lean potential groundwater terrain. Similarly, boreholes sank within the high groundwater potential and sourced their water from the weathered and fractured zone, which formed the aquifer within the basement complex of the study area.
